Federal Youth Orchestra

Since 1969, the Youth Orchestra of the Federal Republic of Germany has offered exceptional musical talents between the ages of 14 and 19 the opportunity to work with the best orchestra musicians, soloists and conductors worldwide. Many former members now play in professional orchestras or have become well-known soloists. Every year, three to four weeks of work are carried out followed by a concert tour. Changing conductors are the artistic directors. In addition, there are short-term special projects.

Since this year, DekaBank has been supporting the Federal Youth Orchestra. This partnership continues a long tradition within the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, which has been a supporter of "Jugend musiziert", Germany's most important young classical music competition, for 50 years. As a member of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, DekaBank sees a special obligation in its social commitment and is pleased to be able to make a contribution to promoting young musical talent. More musical instruments can be purchased, which are made available on loan to young musicians. In addition, financial support can be provided to orchestra members, for example to cover travel expenses for those young musicians whose families are unable to do so.

A total of 31 concerts will be on the tour schedule of the Federal Youth Orchestra in 2018.
After a big tour through India, a guest performance with Sir Simon Rattle in Baden-Baden and three performances with Britten's "War Requiem", a European tour through Detmold, Dobbiaco, Bressanone, Kiev, Lviv, Dresden, Sinaia, Bucharest and Berlin will take place from July 20 to August 4!
